The Kingston Academy of Medicine is the local branch of the Ontario Medical Association, which can trace its beginnings to September 1880. It is comprised of family physicians, hospital and community based specialists, residents and medical students.
Over the years the Academy has functioned as a forum for fellowship and an opportunity to address issues affecting physicians, hospitals and the health care system not only with in Kingston but also within the Province of Ontario.
Another service provided by the Academy has been to assist patients finding a Family Physician in Kingston. However, over the last few years the Academy has not been able to provide much assistance in this matter due to the critical shortage of Family Physicians. The Academy has been able to provide brief answers and advice in response to questions regarding the general practice of medicine in the Kingston area.
